- Could you briefly introduce yourself?
I’m an IT professional for about 25 years, mainly focusing on (relational) databases. I’m an OakTable member, have been active in the Oracle community since 2012 and a regular speaker at Europe conferences. As I like to contribute and build stuff, I’m currently having a lot of interest around open source and mainly PostgreSQL (contributing to extensions, bug fixes and new features).
- How do you engage with the PostgreSQL Community?
I contribute to code, attend and speak at conferences and help to distribute the contributor gifts in France.
- Have you enjoyed previous PostgreSQL Europe conferences, either as an attendee or as a speaker?
I had the chance to speak or attend PGConf NYC (1), PGConf.EU (3), FOSDEM PGDay (2), PGSession (1) (organized by Dalibo) and now pgDay Paris ;-) I really like the atmosphere in those events and how easy/friendly it is to engage with the PostgreSQL Community.
- What about pgDay Paris specifically
My first time ever this Year.
- What will your talk be about, exactly? Why this topic?
I'll talk about logical decoding from Standby (new PostgreSQL 16 feature). I'll explain the challenges that have been face during the implementation, how they have been addressed and conclude with a live demo. I think this is great feature that lot of PostgreSQL users have been waiting for.
- What is the audience for your talk?
Dev(s) and DBA(s) but everyone is welcomed to attend.
- What existing knowledge should the attendee have?
Basics about logical replication (but I'll give a quick intro though).
- What is the one feature in PostgreSQL 16 which you like most?
I'll let you guess ;-)
- What PostgreSQL event in 2024 are you most excited about?
I'm looking forward PGConf.dev (in Vancouver) because it will be the first time I attend the "PostgreSQL Development Conference".
